This 1931 Harley-Davidson VL was previously owned by Steve McQueen, in whose keeping it was awaiting restoration at the actor’s private Ventura County, California, hangar and garage at the time of his death in 1980. It was subsequently purchased from the McQueen estate by McQueen memorabilia collector Mike Eisenberg at the 1984 auction in Las Vegas, and it was under Eisenberg’s ownership that a cosmetic refurbishment was completed.
