This 1972 Yamaha R5 was purchased new by the seller in May 1972 at Shafter Yamaha in California and it was ridden 17k miles before being disassembled and rebuilt. Work at that time included overhauling the 347cc two-stroke parallel-twin, porting and polishing the cylinder heads, fitting a fiberglass front fender and tail section, and repainting the bike in yellow with red and orange stripe accents.
