About
The DMC-12 was John DeLorean's sole production vehicle, designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro at Italdesign, built on a Lotus-derived double-Y chassis in Belfast, and finished in unpainted stainless steel panels that made paint an irrelevant maintenance consideration. Approximately 9,000 were produced between 1981 and 1983 before DMC's bankruptcy ended production; an estimated 6,500 survive today.
